Vishal Kathuria is an AI research and engineering leader with over two decades of experience building large-scale systems and leading AI research teams at some of the world's largest technology companies. At Terra AI, Vishal lends his expertise in applied AI research and large-scale systems, helping guide the technical direction of the company's modeling platform.

Vishal is currently a Member of Technical Staff at Anthropic, which he joined in 2025. Before that, he was Chief Technology Officer at Aire Labs. He spent over 12 years at Facebook (Meta), where he served as Tech Director in AI Research, leading teams across recommendation systems, platform integrity, and Facebook Assistant's speech and language capabilities, as well as the company's messaging infrastructure and core distributed systems. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly nine years at Microsoft, including as Principal Development Lead on the SQL Azure database team.

Throughout his career, Vishal has developed deep expertise in applied AI research, recommendation and ranking systems, and distributed infrastructure at scale. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
