Ningli trains GenAI models flexible enough to take a geologist's intuition, and strict enough to honor observations. Ningli's path touches every aspect of Terra AI's business. He received his bachelor's degree in Mineral Exploration Engineering, then a PhD in Geophysics from Brown University, where his award-winning thesis included a chapter on applying ML to geophysics. He then served as the Paul Silver Postdoctoral Fellow at the Carnegie Institution for Science, working on numerical simulation. After moving into industry, he worked at Viridien as a Staff Seismic Imager, where he contributed to core algorithms on large GPU infrastructure. Most recently, he was Principal Data Scientist at Innoscience, where he built computer vision solutions from the ground up as the founding engineer. He spends weekends exploring nature and trying out new recipes. He likes both coffee and matcha.
